Child Sexual Abuse

Child sexual abuse is any sexual act between and adult and a minor or between two minors when one exerts power over the other.  It is forcing, coercing, or persuading a child to engage in any type of sexual act; this of course includes sexual contact.  It also includes non-contact acts such as exhibitionism, exposure to pornography, voyeurism, and communicating in a sexual manner by phone or internet.  Child sexual abuse is agonizing and traumatizing for its victims and is punishable by law.

Below are some statistics about child sexual abuse, warning signs, information about what to do when a child discloses, and ways for adults to protect children from sexual predators.
